Although Neil now appears in front of the camera at 12 News, much of his career has been covering events from behind it as a photojournalist. After graduating with a degree in journalism from the University of Georgia, Neil began his adventure in television news.
He has worked for affiliates of ABC, NBC, and CBS in markets as small as Great Falls Montana and as large as Atlanta, Georgia and Los Angeles California, as well as several years in communications at the Minnesota Senate.
Neil has worked in 6 different television markets including 4 in the top 20 and two in the top 10. His work has been recognized with awards from many professional organizations including two regional Emmys.
He has seen everything through his lens from forest fires to flooding, been in hurricanes and tornadoes, and interviewed presidents and pop stars. Through it all he’s found that some of the most interesting stories come from people who don’t make headlines. He believes that everyone has a story and he enjoys telling them through sound and image.

Jason comes to Channel 12 after three years as a sports anchor/reporter at WXOW in La Crosse, WI.
Jason was born and raised in New Jersey and is a graduate of New Hampshire College where he played hockey.
Cassie Bonstrom joined the Channel 12 News team as a reporter in January 2014.
Her broadcast journalism career has taken her to several stations in Minnesota, where she’s held positions both in front of and behind the camera. She started as a reporter at WDIO-TV in Duluth and quickly moved to the anchor desk for their Emmy-winning morning news program, Good Morning Northland.
After two years of too little sleep and too much coffee, Cassie and her husband moved back to the Twin Cities to be closer to family. She worked for several years at WCCO-TV and KARE 11 as an Assignment Editor before deciding she wanted to be back in the action, rather than coordinating it from behind a desk.
When she’s not out in the field covering city and neighborhood issues, you can usually find Cassie in the newsroom pleading to her boss to let her cover an animal-related story. Outside of work, Cassie enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, coaching basketball and softball, and collecting picture frames.
