Football coaches know that it takes a little time to get their systems in place when they take over a program. Like Jerry Kill with the Gophers, Matt Lombardi's second season at Maple Grove is going much smoother.
Maple Grove is 3-1 in the first half of the regular season, with wins over Armstrong, Elk River and Blaine, and a close loss to unbeaten Osseo.
Maple Grove plays at Anoka Friday as they look to prove that the strong start is a sign of things to come in the program.
