Providence football team plans to say at a high level

Providence Academy's football team has made steady progress, and last year the Lions broke through to reach the state playoffs for the first time.

Though some talented players graduated, the returning players are intent on proving that the state appearance was no fluke.

Providence will get an early test, meeting a team that beat them twice last season, St. Croix Lutheran, in the season opener Friday night. The Crusaders knocked Providence out of the state playoffs in the semifinals before going on to win the Class AAA title.
