Marvin "Corky" Taylor, who played basketball for the Gophers from 1970-1973 and was a member of their 1972 Big Ten title team, died Wednesday due to complications from lung cancer. He was 60.
Taylor first called Channel 12 in the fall of 1991 asking if the sports department needed any help on telecasts of high school basketball. He proceeded to work on basketball telecasts for 20 years.
Then Corky called John Jacobson again three weeks ago asking for help in putting together some thoughts for his family. He passed away Wednesday night at the age 60 from complications of lung cancer.
