There are beer fans and then are Surly fans. Friday, fans of Surly were camped outside the Brooklyn Center beermaker's facility awaiting the release of a limited edition beer called "Darkness."
The legion of Surly fans say Darkness, a Russian Imperial Stout, is as coveted a beer as it gets. It's why they camp out a day before to receive one of the 1,200 wristbands needed to obtain bottles of Darkness.
The Darkness Day event runs Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. There will be live music and food available for purchase onsite. If customers don't get their hands on the $18 Darkness bottles, other Surly beers will be for sale for $4.
