They lost some good seniors from last season's state runner-up squad, but the Maple Grove boys swimming and diving team is still pretty solid.
The Crimson host the five-team Karol Carlson Invitational Saturday. It's named for the mother of former Crimson standout Curt Carlson. Karol Carlson died of cancer.
Eden Prairie, Edina, Wayzata and Mounds View will join Maple Grove at the meet. Maple Grove lost five good performers from the state meet qualifiers last season and they're working to replace those athletes.
Maple Grove lost to one of the state's top teams, Edina, in their season opener last week before taking first at the Northwest Suburban Conference relays.
The team is collecting unwrapped toys at the meet Saturday as part of a contribution to Toys for Tots.
