After losing early in the Minnesota state tournament, the Robbinsdale Little League 12-year-old all-stars bounced back to win the title.
At the Midwest division of the Central regional in Indianapolis, Robbinsdale whipped Girard, Kan., 14-1 in four innings Saturday before falling 4-3 to Canyon Lake, S.D., Sunday in pool play.
In the win over Girard, Kan., five different Robbinsdale players had two hits apiece, with Christian Costello also contributing a home run and four runs batted in. Beijan Newbern hit a two-run homer in the second inning of the second game against Canyon Lake, but Robbinsdale only managed one run after that.
Winning pitcher Cooper Bowman tossed four scoreless innings in relief, and also had the game-winning hit.
Robbinsdale played Westside Little League of Sioux City, Iowa, Monday afternoon as pool play continued.
