Police seek help to stop vandalism spree

Maple Grove Police are looking for the public's help in putting a stop to a spree of vandalism. Vandals tagged homes and cars on two consecutive nights this week.

Maple grove police say they covered a wide area in the southern part of the city, hitting 18 different addresses on two nights.

Captain Keith Terlinden says officials are particularly concerned because some of the vandalism uses racial slurs.

"Even though the words used were racial in nature, its doesn't appear the victims of the crime were targeted by a bias or racially motivated crime," Terlinden says, "But again anytime those type of words are used it does alarm us. We want to make sure those that are responsible for this vandalism are stopped."

The damage happened between midnight and 5 in the morning on July 24th, and July 25th. One witness says there were 3 males running from the scene.

Police say they will give the areas special attention with additional night patrols on bikes. Police ask residents who hear or see anything suspicious to call them.
