Pam Wittman from Williams-Sonoma at the Shoppes at Arbor Lakes demonstrates how the Vitamix blender could be a parent's secret weapon. The 1200-watt, 2-horsepower, BPA-free appliance quickly pulverizes a platter of veggies including spinach, carrots and dinosaur kale into "Dino Juice" -- just don't tell your kids what's inside!
DINO JUICE
4 stalks of dinosaur kale (remove center rib)
2 handfuls of spinach
3 oranges (peeled & halved)
2 red apples
1 green apple
4 carrots
12 mint leaves
ice & water
Layer ingredients in the Vitamix blender starting with water first, then add the juiciest & easiest to blends ingredients first (ie: oranges), ending with ice cubes on top. Select the smoothie setting and blend. Add more veggies, fruit or water to taste.
FRUIT SALAD SMOOTHIE
1/2 cup green grapes
1 medium orange (peeled & halved)
1/2-inch thick sliced pinapple (core included)
1/2 cup cucumber (peeled & chopped)
1 medium carrot (halved)
1/4 medium apple
2 cups ice cubes
Place all ingredients into the Vitamix blender in the order listed. Select the smoothie setting and blend.
